Nike Air Jordan III is one of the most popular AJ of all time. Introducing Jumpman logo, elephant print and visible air to the Jordan line would prove successful with this instant classic. Designer Tinker Hatfield made a shoe so innovative and creative it would keep Michael Jordan from leaving Nike. Jordan wore Air Jordan 3 at All Star weekend in 1988 where he won the Slam Dunk Title.
Michael Jordan wasn’t so into signing the shoe deal with Nike to begin with. Especially after Rob Strasser and Peter Moore left he thought of looking for a new deal. These two people affected his decision since they are the ones who talked him into signing the deal with Nike in the first place.The elephant print designed by Tinker Hatfield, the Peter Moore’s Jumpman logo are some of the things that made him reconsider working with Nike again. Also, Michael Jordan’s father played a big role by convincing him that Nike was looking after his interests.
Michael Jordan wore this shoe during a dunk competition in 1988. Since that time the shoe became iconic and generated a lot of fanfare. He also got into a deal with Spike Lee to make a memorable advertisement, the “Mars Blackmon” and in the film She Gotta Have It. Since then the Jordan 3 has remained to be a popular sneaker among people and athletes as well. The shoe was originally called Air Jordan Revolution and incorporated his personality in its design.
